Preorder gifts all sent out!

Three months ago, I announced that I’ll send signed characters cards to everyone who preorders Throne of Blood. I’m happy to say that yesterday I finally finished mailing all the cards and small gifts. And, as usual, I always send chocolate with my cards/books!

It’s been a challenge. Throughout the years, I’ve been sending so many signed paperbacks around the world, but the current lockdowns have apparently brought restrictions on what can be mailed where. I faced many obstacles on my quest to send postcards to everyone…

Post office guy: You should send this small package as a letter, it will be cheaper.

Me: Great, let’s do that!

Post office guy: Wait… since it’s to Brazil, and Brazil is a high risk zone, you can’t send it as a letter. You have to send it as a parcel.

Me: (wondering how this makes any sense) Sure, parcel is fine.

Post office guy: But it’s more expensive.

Me: Okay, if it’s the only way, that’s fine.

Post office guy: Wait, but it’s for Brazil, and Brazil is a high risk zone on my list.

Me: Yes, that’s why we are sending it as a parcel.

Post office guy: But we are not allowed to send parcels to high risk zones.

Me: (blinking and still wondering how this makes any sense… I mean, I get some restrictions on receiving parcels from high risk zones, but sending?) So we can’t send it as a parcel?

Post office guy: No.

Me: Should we then send it as a letter?

Post office guy: No, letters to high risk zones must be sent as parcels.

Me: But we can’t send parcels either?

Post office guy: Nope.

Me: So what can we send it as?

Post office guy: Nothing. Sorry. Bye.

Me: (🤨😣🤬) I need to send this. What would you recommend? Should I go to another post office?

Post office guy: They’ll tell you the same.

Me: I sincerely doubt that. Thanks anyway!

Long story short, I did manage to send out everything, but it took much more time and effort than anticipated. But now your postcards are on the way and you should get them soon.

Also, one lucky reader won a sighed paperback. The winner is: Marina. Congratulations! I have already mailed your paperback together with your chosen character cards.

Two of you who have preordered the book and requested cards live at the same address. I have sent your package all together, with individual envelopes for each of you inside, hopefully that’s fine!

To those of you who didn’t win: don’t be sad! There will be at least one more paperback giveaway this year, possibly more!

Free signed paperbacks for Berliners!

I recently shared that I extremely spontaneously decided to move to Denmark. And, as expected of a quick relocation, my last two days in Berlin were extremely hectic. Finishing packing and shipping stuff, selling and giving away furniture, repainting the flat, running around the city on different errands. But on top of all else, there was one more thing to take care of: I found out I still had four Kingdom of Ashes and one Men and Monsters paperbacks.

I had initially ordered all of them planning to run more Goodreads giveaways as I’ve done in the past. But then Goodreads changed the giveaway rules, and this was no longer possible. And so I stuffed them in a cupboard to wait for the time I find a way to run a giveaway or find interested bloggers, and I almost forgot about their existence until it was time to move.

But what was I going to do with the books? I couldn’t possibly take them with me; I didn’t have an extra molecule of space in my luggage. And there was no time to mail them around. And so, I came up with an idea: I would sign them and donate them to open phone booth libraries around the cityAnd so I spent half of a crazy day running around the city, dropping off books, but I hope it was worth it!

Read on to see how to get them in case you have trips to Berlin planned soon!

Where am I? Solve this riddle to win a SIGNED Men and Monsters paperback

Throne of Blood, Book 3 in the Nightfall series, is approaching completion, and I can already tell you a secret…

Chapter One, “Legend” will be the first chapter in the series from Vlad’s point of view. While we have seen his story in Men and Monsters, we hear it through Myra and through what he chooses to tell her. Now, for the first time, we will properly get inside his head.

I have two questions for you, and if you answer correctly, you’ll enter a lottery to win a Men and Monsters signed paperback!

  1. Where is Vlad in the opening chapter of Throne of Blood?
  2. What is he doing there?

How on earth should you know that, you ask. Simple! You just need to guess where I am:

What’s up with the new rules for Goodreads Giveaways?

Starting January 9, 2018, the Goodreads Giveaways rules are changing, and it makes me worried. Right now, the Goodreads Giveaways program is perfect and welcoming to all readers and writers, but the new rules have the potential to turn it into an exclusive club for a select few.

I honestly see no improvements, and the change seems designed to benefit Amazon, and, possibly, big publishers, but will ultimately end up hurting both readers and authors. I’ll be curious to hear your thoughts and if anyone sees any bright side.

Let me preface this by saying I love Goodreads Giveaways, which is why I care so much about this. I’ve run multiple giveaways in the past, and they’ve given me the opportunity to connect with readers I wouldn’t have found otherwise. Also, I love gift-wrapping and mailing books and chocolates. Maybe a bit too much…

So, let’s look at the changes one by one: Continue reading

It’s the season of gift giving!

I’m in the mood for gift giving!

A couple of things have been happening:

1) Today, April 30th, Kingdom of Ashes celebrates its half-year anniversary. Time flies!

2) My birthday is coming up next Friday, May 5th. And, since I’m a huge Tolkien fan, I want to honor the Hobbit tradition of giving gifts to your guests on your own birthday.

What does this mean for you?

I’ve set up a giveaway for a signed Kingdom of Ashes paperback. The winner will also get exclusive character cards, fun bookish gifts, and, of course, chocolate.

Enter here!

Unlike Goodreads giveaways, where thousands of people enter, my giveaways are small and cozy and you have high chances of winning 🙂

Also, for those of you who haven’t read Kingdom of Ashes yet, but would like to, I’m giving away free ebooks between May 1 and May 30. Just message me your email and preferred format.

Happy reading! ❤

Spotlights, blog reviews, giveaways, and more pre-release fun

With less than 2 weeks left to publication, things are getting exciting for Kingdom of Ashes! A bunch of blog reviews are coming in the next couple of weeks, and the first one is already up. Head out to Magic of Books to read Magda’s insightful thoughts!

Also, I was recently a guest at Cover2Cover, where I talked about the joys of being an indie creator.
